As a back country adventurous, there are always new experiences to share from the wilderness. In this story, I was climbing Mt Mitchel in NC and fly fishing for wild trout , I ran across a few climbers on their way down...and it was still very early in the morning? Well, they came across some bear tracks and decided to call it quits vs. risking a bear encounter.
Well after many years in the back country including training in the military on Kodiak Island, my experience with bears has taught me
a few lessons.
I decided to continue my trek to the peak @ 6,680ft elevation and keep a keen ear and eye for Yogi and family.
Here is just a few tracks I came across , weary yet successful on my peak , I also took an alternate route back down only to come across fresh bear scat.
